Art and Research

CYRÓ Festival Residency

Cyro – Cyber Roça, held in 2024 in Tiradentes (MG), was a three-day festival open to the public, featuring sound art performances, new media, concerts, and other artistic experiments. Alongside the main program, we developed an artistic residency that welcomed artists into an immersive process, expanding the festival beyond the stage and fostering collaborative practices.

I worked as the conceptual coordinator of the residency, in partnership with André ___, leading the program and shaping the actions that structured the collective process. The central theme of this edition revolved around displacements: of the artist’s body; from the metropolis to the rural environment; from neoliberal time to the rhythm of a historic city; and across cultures, territories, and practices in constant transit.

The residency was divided into two complementary stages. The first, Nourishment, Exchange & Experimentation, focused on living in Tiradentes, listening to the environment, and creating encounters among artists. The second, Editing, Assembly & Publication, centered on defining outputs and tactical approaches to publication, exploring ways of presenting the works and reflecting on production, audience, and context.

Gráfico Assemglage

Research on popular Brazilian visual culture through printed ephemera and street signs and city image. This project has 2 main outcomes: the first one was a mini-workshop at Parallel School 2013 (Berlin - UDK) entitled How We Can Learn with the Streets and How the Streets Can Learn with Us , and the second is a riso printed book designed and printed in São Paulo in 2015.

This project explores the depth anonymous image creators and its impact our contemporary visual culture.

Guia Comum do Centro do Recife

The Guia Comum do Centro do Recife (2015) is a publication that maps around 40 places and situations of resistance and invisibility in the Recife city center, bringing together contributions from artists, writers, photographers, musicians, and local residents. More than a guide, it offers an affective and plural perspective on urban space, combining texts, images, scores, and maps in a free edition of 3,000 copies, later expanded into a geolocated app in 2017.

As part of the creative team,  I worked as a designer and conceptual collaborator, contributing to the project’s visual and graphic conception. My role was key in translating the curatorial ideas into an editorial language, integrating diverse content into a cohesive experience that connects art, city, and memory.

Gesto Combinado

The multimedia artwork that emerged from my research on appropriation, remix, and the circulation of images and gestures in both digital and printed formats. It was a project where I explored the relationship between performance, editing, and visual experimentation.

This project was part of the Livro Pirata, organized by Bia Bittencourt, which proposed a critical recreation of Ernst Gombrich’s classic The Story of Art
